The Product

What is the LENA Night Recovery Roll-On?

The LENA Night Recovery Roll-On is a luxury bedtime roll-on formulated with a 30% magnesium chloride concentration and five complementary plant-derived botanicals: Lavender, Arnica, MSM, Aloe Vera, and Chamomile. Designed to be part of your nightly wind-down routine, it's applied before bed as a calming, fragrant ritual to help you settle into sleep. It's manufactured in a GMP-certified biotech facility.

How does the roll-on work?

LENA is a topical cosmetic wellness product applied directly to the skin. Transdermal application, through the skin, is a popular alternative for those who prefer not to rely solely on oral supplementation. The botanical blend is designed to complement your existing bedtime routine with a calming scent and a lightweight, non-greasy finish.

Is using LENA the same as taking an oral magnesium supplement?

No. LENA is applied to the skin rather than swallowed, so it skips digestion entirely — which is why many people who find oral magnesium hard on their stomach prefer a topical roll-on instead. Research on the exact degree of skin absorption is still developing, so we'd describe LENA as a complementary evening ritual rather than a precisely-dosed replacement for oral supplementation. LENA is a cosmetic wellness product, not a supplement or medicine.

How is LENA different from generic magnesium oil?

Many generic magnesium oils are single-ingredient (magnesium chloride and water) and don't always disclose their concentration. LENA discloses a 30% magnesium chloride concentration, layers in five botanicals (lavender, arnica, MSM, aloe vera, chamomile) for a more complete evening ritual, uses a rollerball for mess-free targeted application, and is made in a GMP-certified facility with lab testing.

How do I use it?

Apply to pulse points, the back of your neck, shoulders, or wherever you'd like to focus your wind-down routine, 20–30 minutes before bed. Allow to absorb naturally, no need to rub in. Use nightly for best results. The 90ml bottle lasts approximately 4–6 weeks with daily use.

Where exactly should I apply it?

For general evening relaxation: pulse points, inner wrists, inside of elbows, the back of the neck and base of the skull. For legs and feet, particularly if you experience tiredness or restlessness at night: both calves from ankle to knee, the soles of your feet, and behind the knees. Other popular spots include the shoulders and upper back for desk-related tension, forearms and wrists for repetitive hand use, and the lower back for general stiffness. There's no single "correct" spot — it comes down to wherever your body is holding tension that day.

Will I feel anything when I apply it?

Many people notice a brief cooling sensation right after application, followed by a warming or light tingling feeling as it settles into the skin — this is normal and expected with a higher-concentration magnesium chloride formula. It usually fades within a few minutes. It can feel a little stronger on sensitive, freshly shaved, or broken skin, so if that happens, we'd recommend patch-testing first and choosing a different spot for nightly use.

What does it smell like?

The roll-on carries a gentle, calming scent driven by natural Lavender and Chamomile. It's light and non-overpowering, designed to ease you into your bedtime ritual.

Can I use it on my face?

We recommend avoiding the face, particularly around the eyes. The formula is designed for body application and hasn't been tested for facial skin.

Can I use it alongside other skincare or moisturiser?

Yes. If you've recently applied a moisturiser to the same area, we recommend waiting around five minutes before applying LENA so the formula can absorb properly.

How should I store the roll-on?

Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight.

Does it expire?

Check the batch code and best-before information printed on your bottle. As with most cosmetic products, we recommend using it within the period indicated and avoiding use if the formula's texture or scent changes noticeably.

Can I bring it when travelling?

The 90ml bottle falls within the standard 100ml carry-on liquid allowance used by many airlines and countries, but rules vary, so it's worth checking your specific airline's policy before you fly.

Does it stain clothing or bedding?

The formula is designed to absorb quickly and dry to a non-greasy finish. To minimise any risk of transfer, we recommend letting it absorb fully, generally a minute or two, before getting dressed or covering the applied area.

Ingredients & the Science

What are the exact ingredient percentages in LENA?

The formula is 30% magnesium chloride as the base, 2% arnica montana extract, 3% MSM (methylsulfonylmethane), 2% aloe vera, 1% chamomile, and 0.5% lavender oil, with glycerin, caprylyl glycol, xanthan gum, and citric acid rounding out the formula for texture, stability, and pH balance.

What is the full ingredient list?

Aqua (Water), Magnesium Chloride, Lavandula Angustifolia Oil (Lavender), Arnica Montana Flower Extract (Arnica), Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Aloe Vera), Chamomilla Recutita Flower Extract (Chamomile), Glycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid. Free from parabens, sulphates, synthetic fragrance, mineral oil, and artificial colouring.

Why does LENA use magnesium chloride instead of magnesium glycinate?

Magnesium glycinate is bonded with the amino acid glycine and is mainly used in oral supplements, often described as gentler on digestion than other oral forms. Magnesium chloride is bonded with chlorine and is the form typically used in topical products because of its solubility in a water-based formula, which is why LENA and most topical magnesium roll-ons use it. Neither form is universally "better" — it comes down to whether you want a measured daily oral dose or a localised, ritual-style topical application.

Why does LENA use natural lavender oil instead of fragrance?

Natural lavender oil contains linalool and other naturally occurring compounds that have been studied for relaxation-supporting properties, whereas synthetic lavender fragrance is designed purely for scent and doesn't contain the same botanical profile. We use the natural oil for this reason, though we'd note that most direct clinical research on linalool covers aromatherapy and oral preparations rather than topical skin application specifically.

Is there scientific research linking magnesium to sleep?

Yes, though it's worth understanding what the research does and doesn't cover. Several clinical studies link oral magnesium supplementation to improvements in subjective sleep quality, sleep onset time, and reduced night waking, particularly in older adults and those with lower baseline magnesium intake. However, most of this clinical research uses oral supplementation, not topical application — the evidence specifically for transdermal magnesium and sleep outcomes is much more limited, and we think it's important to be upfront about that distinction rather than overstate it.

Use Cases

Can I use LENA for neck and shoulder tension, not just before bed?

Yes. Many customers keep a bottle at their desk for an afternoon reset, gliding it over the back of the neck, across the shoulders, and along the upper trapezius muscles. It's not a fix for poor posture, but combined with stretch breaks and movement, it's a small ritual many desk-bound people build into their day.

Can I use LENA after a workout?

Yes. Many active people apply it directly to trained muscles, calves after a run, shoulders after lifting, as part of a post-workout wind-down, alongside proper rehydration, stretching, and rest. It isn't a treatment for exercise injury, and shouldn't replace those other recovery basics, but many find the massage-and-scent ritual a genuinely satisfying way to end a workout.

I'm on my feet all day for work. How should I use LENA?

People in standing-heavy roles (retail, healthcare, hospitality, teaching) often build a short end-of-shift routine: removing supportive footwear, briefly elevating the legs, then applying LENA to the calves, shins, and soles of the feet. Prolonged standing keeps blood and fluid working against gravity for hours, which is why this kind of leg fatigue can feel different from general tiredness.

Can LENA help with restless legs at night?

Some customers who experience leg restlessness or tiredness at night find applying LENA to their calves, shins, and soles of the feet before bed a helpful part of their evening routine. That said, Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) is a recognised medical condition with several possible causes, and clinical research specifically on topical magnesium for RLS is very limited. LENA is a cosmetic wellness product, not a treatment for RLS or any medical condition — if leg restlessness is frequent or severe, please speak with a healthcare professional.

Can LENA help with stress?

Research specifically on topical magnesium and stress is limited, so we wouldn't want to overstate it. That said, many customers find the ritual itself calming: slowing down, dimming the lights, and spending a minute massaging in a botanical-scented product is a deliberate pause that many people genuinely find relaxing, independent of any single ingredient.

How LENA Compares

How does LENA compare to an Epsom salt bath?

They suit different moments rather than one replacing the other. An Epsom salt bath is a slower, more immersive 15–20 minute ritual best suited to evenings with time to relax. LENA takes seconds, needs no tub or cleanup, and travels easily for a quick reset at the office, after a workout, or right before bed. Plenty of people use both.

What's the difference between LENA and a sleep or pillow spray?

A sleep spray is misted onto pillows or into the air and works mainly through scent as a sensory cue. LENA is applied directly to the skin and is designed to be absorbed at the application site. If you want a calming room scent, a spray suits that goal; if you want to apply magnesium and botanicals directly to tired legs or shoulders, a roll-on is built for that. Many people use both together.

Safety & Suitability

Is it suitable for all skin types?

Yes. The formula is free from parabens, synthetic fragrances, and harsh chemicals, making it suitable for all skin types. If you have sensitive skin or a known allergy to any listed ingredient, we recommend doing a patch test before full use.

Is it safe to use every day?

For most healthy adults, applying once or twice a day to different areas of the body is a common pattern and part of the intended routine, not an occasional treatment. The main thing to watch for is skin sensitivity rather than a magnesium "overdose" through skin, which is genuinely rare with topical use. If you have a kidney condition, are on dialysis, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or manage a chronic medical condition, please check with your doctor before starting any new topical magnesium routine.

Is it suitable for men as well as women?

Yes. LENA's formula isn't gender-specific and is designed for anyone building an evening wind-down ritual.

Is it safe for teenagers to use?

As with any new wellness product, we'd recommend a parent or guardian consult a healthcare professional before a teenager starts using LENA, particularly given individual sensitivities can vary.

Is LENA vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes. LENA uses no animal-derived ingredients and is not tested on animals.

What should I do if my skin reacts to it?

If you notice redness, itching, or irritation, discontinue use, rinse the area with water, and consult a healthcare professional if symptoms persist. This is why we recommend a patch test on a small area before full application, especially if you have sensitive skin.

Can I use it if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

We recommend consulting your healthcare professional before using any new wellness product during pregnancy or breastfeeding. While our ingredients are natural and botanical, your doctor is best placed to advise based on your individual health needs.

Is LENA a medical product?

No. LENA is a cosmetic wellness product and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. For any health concerns, please consult a qualified healthcare professional.
